Mark True statements with a “T” and False statements with an “F.” Write your answers to the discussion points in the com boxes below.

1._____ Harry, Ron, and Mr. Weasley meet Lucius Malfoy in the Department of Mysteries after Harry’s Wizengamut trial. In their first meeting since the Voldemort re-birthing, Harry tells the Death Eater he is good at escaping.

2._____ Harry dumps a bag of galleons into the Fountain of Magical Brethren – and notices that the statues are anything but life-like (except for the house-elf).

3._____ Everyone is delighted that Harry “got off” except Sirius Black who seems a little moody after Harry’s return to Grimmauld Place. Harry wonders if he wasn’t hoping that he’d have someone to keep him company at Headquarters.

4._____ To everyone’s astonishment, Ron is made a Gryffindor Prefect. Harry has to wrestle with his conscience because he thinks that he is much more qualified for the position than Ron, but decides in the end to confront Dumbledore about it.

5._____ “Mad-Eye” Moody makes a point of showing Harry a photograph of the original Order of the Phoenix – with details of how everyone that suffered was killed or tortured. Mrs. Weasley’s trouble with a boggart is equally disturbing.

6._____ Harry, Hermione, and the Weasley children are accompanied by Sirius as Padfoot the dog to King’s Cross Station. Hermione thinks it is a good idea that he get out but Ron and Harry worry that he may be spotted.

7._____ Ron and Hermione go to the Prefect compartment on the Hogwarts Express but Harry gets a seat with Luna Lovegood, a friend of Ginny’s. Neville treats them all with a shower of perfumed smellsap from his Mimbulus Mimbletonia.

8._____ Luna’s father is the editor of an alternative newspaper called The Quibbler. Harry reads about how Sirius Black is really a rock-star named Stubby Boardman and that Cornelius Fudge hates goblins and cooks them in pies.

9._____ Malfoy has been chosen as a Slytherin House Prefect and has a great time rubbing Harry’s face in his not having been selected. He asks Harry how it feels to be bested by Weasley and tells Harry he’ll be dogging him all year.

10._____ Getting off the train, Harry is astonished to see the carriages are being pulled by “horse-things” with bat-like wings. Even more disturbing, only he and Luna seem to be able to see them.

Discussion Point: Harry’s fifth year starts off lousy, no? He is passed over for Prefect, he gets a stinksap bath on the train, Malfoy is laughing at him, and he seems to be seeing things only Luna can see. What does this stage setting suggest about the year to come?

Mark True statements with a “T” and False statements with an “F.” Write your answers to the discussion points in the com boxes below.

1._____Harry, Mr. Weasley, and Padfoot take the Underground to the Ministry of Magic, which they enter through a telephone booth after dialing 6-4-2-4-2.

2._____ Harry promises to put ten Galleons into the Fountain of Magical Brethren, if he is not expelled from Hogwarts. The Statue features a witch, a wizard, a goblin, a centaur, and a house-elf. The last three seem to be adoring the first two.

3._____ When they get to Mr. Weasley’s office, the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts on Level Three, Perkins tells them Harry’s hearing has been moved to Courtroom Nine — and they’re already fifteen minutes late!

4._____ Mr. Weasley and Harry race from Level Two to Level Nine, The Department of Mysteries, down a flight of stone steps, and along a dungeon corridor to the Courtroom door, which Harry steps past all alone.

5._____ Harry is astonished to see he is in the same courtroom “where had watched the Lestanges sentenced to life imprisonment in Azkaban” via Dumbledore’s Pensieve. The chains on the seat “threaten menacingly” but leave him free.

6._____ The Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge, presides over the Wizengamot’s disciplinary hearing. He chastises Harry for being late – saying it is not their fault – when Dumbledore appears as a witness for the defense. He shakes Harry’s hand

7._____ Fudge hits Harry with a series of question demonstrating he broke the Decree for the Reasonable Restriction of Underage Sorcery by conjuring a Patronus in the presence of a Muggle on August 2nd.

8._____ Harry defends himself by saying he only did this magic because of the two dementors. Fudge dismisses this defense as “taradiddles” but Dumbledore produces a witness: Arabella Figg. She claims that Squibs can see dementors.

9._____ Dumbledore argues logically that, if the dementors are still under Ministry control, then these dementors must have been sent by the Ministry to attack Harry. Delores Umbridge, a toad of a woman, says this is just silly.

10._____ Cornelius Fudge asks the Wizengamut to raise their hands if they are in favor of “clearing the witness of all charges.” More than half those voting raise their hands. Harry and Dumbledore leave the dungeon together as free men.

Discussion Point: Why won’t the Headmaster look at Harry through this ordeal? How is this criminal trial like the three trips Harry made in the Pensieve to old Courtroom 10? What role does Percy Weasley play at the trial?

Mark True statements with a “T” and False statements with an “F.” Write your answers to the discussion points in the com boxes below.

1._____ Harry, Hermione, and the Weasley children come to dinner as the Order of the Phoenix meeting in the kitchen breaks up. Tonks, Fred, and George help Molly cook and serve dinner, but the twins get an earful for too much magic…

2._____ Mundungus apologizes to Harry for skipping out on his guard duty. The thief isn’t very popular with Mrs. Weasley because he seems, in her opinion, to “have missed a few crucial lessons” in learning about right and wrong.

3._____ Sirius asks Harry why he hasn’t asked any questions about Voldemort and the room freezes. Molly and Sirius have a row about Dumbledore’s instructions that they not tell Harry “more than he needs to know.” Lupin sides with Padfoot.

4._____ Sirius, Lupin, Tonks, and Mundungus explain to Harry why the Dark Lord hasn’t been killing people openly, what he has been doing, and what the Order has tried to do, despite Ministry interference, to stop him.

5._____ Harry asks Sirius what Voldemort is after “apart from followers.” Sirius looks at Arthur and says “Stuff he can only get by stealth…Like a weapon. Something he didn’t have last time.” Mrs. Weasley shuts down the discussion.

6._____ Harry, Hermione, and the four Weasley children discuss what the weapon could be and if Dumbledore is keeping it at Hogwarts like the Philosopher’s Stone

7._____ Mrs. Weasley leads the children in an attempt to rid the drawing room curtains of doxies. They spray them in the face with Doxycide and throw them in a bucket when they’re immobilized. George and Fred pocket a few for later.

8._____ Harry meets Kreacher, the House of Black house-elf, whose dark mutterings suggest he has “gone round the twist.” Sirius tells him to “go away.”

9._____ Sirius gives Harry a lecture about the Black Family Tree on the drawing room wall. He explains that his brother Regulus was a Death Eater but was murdered when he tried to back out of the Dark Lord’s service.

10._____ They manage to clear the drawing room of items, including “a heavy locket that none of them could open,” in two days. Dumbledore comes to Headquarters the day before Harry’s hearing; he explains what will happen at the Ministry.

Discussion Point: Harry thinks the Order members “were really waging war on the house” rather than cleaning it – and the house was “putting up a very good fight.” What do we learn about Harry, Sirius, the twins, and Kreacher during their battles? What elements of Kreacher’s initial portrayal foreshadow the “miraculous” transformation Kreacher undergoes midway through Deathly Hallows?

Mark True statements with a “T” and False statements with an “F.” Write your answers to the discussion points in the com boxes below.

1._____ Harry sends angry letters to Ron, Hermione, and Sirius demanding information – and winds up waiting three days in his room. He objects when Uncle Vernon locks him in one night before the Dursley family goes for a drive.

2._____ Eight witches and wizards come to guard Harry Potter’s exit from Privet Drive. “A surprising number of people volunteered to come and get you.”

3._____ Nymphadora Tonks, a Metamorphmagus, helps Harry pack. She is an Auror despite almost failing Stealth and Tracking. Her inborn ability to change clothes instantly “got top marks in Concealment and Disguise.”

4._____ After signals of red and green sparks, the pack of wizards and witches fly with Harry from Little Whinging to London. “Mad-Eye” Moody keeps Harry laughing with eyeball jokes so he doesn’t notice the cold that much.

5._____ “Mad-Eye” extinguishes the street lamps with Dumbledore’s Put-Outer when they land in London, puts the Disillusionment Spell on Harry, and gives him a scrap of paper with the address of the Order of the Phoenix headquarters.

6._____ Harry enters 12 Grimmauld Place, a building he wasn’t able to see until moments before entering, and is greeted by shouts of delight from Mrs. Weasley and Hermione. He runs upstairs to talk with Ron and Hermione, Fred and George.

7._____ Ron and Hermione try to explain to Harry that Dumbledore “didn’t want you to know anything” but he won’t listen. Furious, he screams at them both for not writing him and because of the injustice of his being left alone at Privet Drive.

8._____ Percy Weasley has sided with the Ministry against his family and Dumbledore. “Percy takes the Daily Prophet seriously” so he doesn’t believe Harry’s story about Lord Voldemort’s return.

9._____ Snape reports to a Special Meeting of the Order of the Phoenix, from which the Weasley children, Harry, and Hermione are excluded. He tells them over dinner about what he has learned of Lord Voldemort’s plans.

10._____ Tonks kicks over a troll’s leg umbrella stand and falls with a crash – “waking up” the portraits in the hallway who begin to scream. Only Sirius is able to shut up a drooling, screaming “old woman in a black cap” – his mother.

Discussion Point: Why is Harry’s departure from Privet Drive timed as it is, cued by spark showers? Why doesn’t Harry yell at or even complain to Lupin and Moody about being left at Privet Drive but screams at Ron and Hermione? How does this leave-taking from Privet Drive compare with the one in Deathly Hallows? Which of the people involved are the same, who is different? What is significant about the number of people involved? How does Mad-Eye Moody’s instructions compare between the two times?

Mark True statements with a “T” and False statements with an “F.” Write your answers to the discussion points in the com boxes below.

1._____ Order of the Phoenix opens with Harry in the flower bed outside 4 Privet Drive. He is listening to the evening news on television because he believes there must soon be reports of Lord Voldemort’s return even on the Muggle news.

2._____ After something of a fight with Uncle Vernon about a loud noise in the street, Harry goes for a walk in Little Whinging. He remembers gratefully the mail he has received from Ron, Hermione, and Sirius. Then he meets Dudley.

3._____ Dudley has overheard Harry’s nightmare about Cedric’s death. He taunts Harry the way Harry has been provoking him – and Harry decides to blast his cousin with his wand. Dudley decks Harry just before the dementors arrive.

4._____ Thinking of Ron and Hermione, Harry conjures a Patronus that saves him and Dudley from the dementors. Dudley “lay curled up on the ground,” shocked.

5._____ To Harry’s surprise, Mrs. Figg, “their batty old neighbor, came panting into sight” in her carpet slippers. She tells him to keep his wand out in case “there are more of them around.”

6._____ Harry leans that Mrs. Figg, Mundungus Fletcher, and cat/kneazles have been watching over him for Dumbledore. “Figgy” sends Fletcher to tell the Headmaster what has happened in the alley. He jumps at the chance to leave.

7._____ Harry drags Dudley to their house where Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon phone the police because their Icky Duddlekins has been mugged.

8._____ The owl messages begin to arrive – Hary has been expelled, Don’t Leave the House!, Harry isn’t expelled, Don’t Leave the House!, and a Howler saying, “REMEMBER MY LAST, PETUNIA!” Uncle Vernon collapses with a stroke.

9._____ Harry is forced to explain to his Aunt and Uncle that Lord Voldemort is back, that the dementors attacked him and Dudley, and that the Ministry is charging him with Underage Misuse of Magic. His uncle tries to throw him out.

10._____ Incredibly, it seems Aunt Petunia knows much more about Harry’s world than she has ever let on. She explains what dementors are and what Lord Voldemort’s return means. “For the first time in his life, Harry fully appreciated that Aunt Petunia was his mother’s sister.”

Discussion Point: How is the opening of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix different from the other books? What is Harry like? Why does he behave this way? How is he being treated by his friends and Dumbledore? And the Dursleys? How do the actions of Mundungus Fletcher foreshadow his actions in Deathly Hallows?

Mark True statements with a “T” and False statements with an “F” for Part 1. For Part 2, write your answers to any or all of the short answer questions in the com boxes below.

Part 1: True/False Questions

1._____ Goblet of Fire opens with the story ofPlatzieren Sie einfach einen Einsatz in einen der seitlichen Kreise, wenn Sie zusätzliche Hände online craps wollen. the mysterious murder of three Muggles in “the Riddle House” in Little Hangleton. The patrons in ‘The Hanged Man’, the local pub, believe there was dark magic involved.

2._____ Harry wakes up on Privet Drive when the scar on his forehead burns “beneath his fingers as though someone had just pressed a white-hot wire to his skin.” He goes to the mirror with a vivid recollection of his dream in his head.

3._____ Dudley Dursley’s school asked his parents to put him on a diet over summer vacation because “the school outfitters didn’t stock knickerbockers big enough for him anymore.” Grapefruit quarters for breakfast! Yummy.

4._____ Fred and George get Harry’s trunk but spill it in the Dursley’s living room and all of Harry’s cakes and sweets pour out. When they leave Dudley eats whatever he can find that they missed in the clean-up: ton-tongue toffee!

5._____ Percy Weasley is hard at work in the Burrow on a Flying Carpet report for his boss at the Ministry, Mr. Crouch, but he leaves it to give Harry a proper greeting and play dueling lawn furniture with Bill and Charlie.

6._____ The Portkey turns out to be an old boot that the two Diggorys, five Weasleys, Harry, and Hermione touch at the right moment for transport to the Quidditch World Cup site Mr. Weasley says is “miles away” on a “windswept moor.”

7._____ Barty Crouch accepts a cup of tea from “Weatherby” at the campsite and talks about his grandfather’s flying carpet “as though he wanted to leave nobody in any doubt that all his ancestors had abided strictly by the law.”

8._____ Krum catches the Snitch to win for Bulgaria at the Quidditch World Cup but is battered by a Bludger to the face. The Bulgarian Minister of Magic says, “Vell, ve fought bravely.”

9._____ Ludo Bagman appears and Disapparates to help with the riot where Death Eaters are torturing Muggles, the trio hear staggering footsteps, the spell “MORSMORDRE!,” “and something vast green, and glittering erupted from the patch of darkness Harry’s eyes had been struggling to penetrate.”

10._____ Mrs. Weasley is almost hysterical by the time her family returns from the World Cup. She was worried Voldemort had got her twins and the last thing she had said to them was they had to leave the Ton Tongue Toffees behind.

11._____ Amos Diggory wakes the Weasleys with the news that Arthur must rush to save Mad-Eye Moody from the Muggle “Please-men.” It seems the famous – and paranoid – retured Auror imagined an intruder and sent the dust-bins rocketing. Amos gives Molly some toast to apologize for waking her up.

12._____ Professor Moody arrives during Dumbledore’s talk before the feast, lightning flashes across the ceiling, he “eyeballs” the crowd front and back, and he sits down to a meal of sausage and a drink from his hip flask.

13._____ Draco Malfoy reads the Daily Prophet article about “Arnold” Weasley “having rushed to the aid of ‘Mad-Eye’ Moody” aloud to embarrass Ron. Draco and Harry trade insults and Draco attacks Harry when his back is turned. To Ron’s great pleasure and Professor McGonagall’s horror, Moody turns Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle into white ferrets that he bounces up and down stairs.

14._____ Hermione has been in the library preparing the materials she needs to organize the Society for the Promotion of Elvish Welfare (S.P.E.W.). Harry and Ron join up as Secretary and Treasurer, respectively. Free the house-elves!

15._____ Professor “Mad-Eye” Moody demonstrates the three Unforgivable Curses on three spiders. He gives everyone practice trying to resist the Imperius curse, but only Harry succeeds in hearing “another voice” “in the back of his brain” that argues with the commands of Moody.

16._____ Dumbledore reveals and explains the “impartial selector” of Tri-wizard Tournament champions: the Goblet of Fire. He sets it up inside an Age Line which no underage wizards can cross. Fred and George fail cross the line. Viktor Krum, Fleur de la Couer, Cho Chang, and Harry Potter are chosen by the Goblet of Fire as Tri-Wizard Tournament Champions.

17._____ “Mad-Eye” Moody and Severus Snape think that Harry has been chosen by the Goblet of Fire because unknown persons want Harry killed. Professor Moody suggests the magical object was confused by a Confundus Charm.

18._____ Mr. Ollivander weighs and inspects the Champions’ wands. Fleur’s has a Veela core, Krum dragon-heart string, Diggory a unicorn hair, and Harry a Phoenix feather. Each wand gets a test: only Fleur receives a bouquet of flowers.

19._____ Ron comes into the Gryffindor Common Room unexpectedly when Harry is talking to Sirius Black. Sirius “pops” out. Harry is furious with Ron (whose pajamas don’t fit), throws a POTTER REALLY STINKS! badge at him, and tells him to wear it to the task.

20._____ Ludo Bagman explains the task to the four champions (“Collect the Golden Egg”) on the way to the waiting tent. He then asks Harry, outside the tent, if he needs any help. Harry declines the offer of help because he is confident of his “Accio, Firebolt!” plan, though really frightened.

21._____ Fred and George tell Hermione how to get into the Hogwarts kitchens during the First Task party so she can help the house-elves prepare more food for the party. She finds Dobby and Winky there – and runs to get Harry and Ron.

Mark True statements with a “T” and False statements with an “F.” Write your answers to the discussion points in the com boxes below.

1._____ Harry, the Triwizard Cup, and what’s left of Cedric arrive back at the Maze. The Headmaster asks Alastor Moody to take Harry to the hospital wing but “Mad-Eye” takes Harry to his office instead.

2._____ Harry answers Moody’s questions until he asks how the Dark Lord treated the returning Death Eaters. Harry remembers that he had learned there was a Death Eater at Hogwarts. Crouch/Moody claims he is the Hogwarts Death Eater.

3._____ Crouch/Moody tells Harry how he fixed the Tournament in Harry’s favor. He is about to kill him to win the Dark Lord’s great favor when Albus & Co. break down the office door and stupefy him.

4._____ The real Moody crawls out of his seven lock chest with Dumby’s help. They give Veritaserum to Crouch/Moody as he comes out of his Polyjuiced state and he tells them how he escaped from Azkaban and from his father’s house.

5._____ Faux Moody confesses to killing his father when dad escaped from Wormtail and Voldemort. He buried Crouch, Sr.’s body in the forest as a bone.

6._____ Dumbledore asks Severus (1) to get Madame Pomfrey to help Moody and (2) to bring Fudge to interview Crouch/Moody. The Headmaster takes Harry to his office where Sirius Black is waiting. Black asks that Harry be allowed to sleep

7._____ Dumbledore refuses Sirius’ request because “Numbing the pain for a while will make it worse when you finally feel it.” Harry tells the story of everything that happened in the graveyard from Cedric’s death to Harry’s escape.

8._____ “Harry thought he saw a gleam of something like triumph in Dumbledore’s eyes” when he told him about the golden cage of light singing Phoenix song.

9._____ Harry doesn’t understand how his and Voldemort’s wand cores connected until Sirius explains Priori Incantatem, the Reverse Spell effect. It was only possible because the two wands had feathers from Fawkes the Phoenix.

10._____ Dumbledore and Sirius in dog form go to the Hospital Wing where Dumbledore explains that Harry must be allowed to sleep. Harry tells Ron and Hermione, “I’m all right. I’m just tired.” He drinks a purple potion and sleeps.

Discussion Points: Why does Dumbledore use Veritaserum to get the true story out of Crouch, Jr.? What is behind Dumbledore’s “gleam of something like triumph”? What is Sirius’ place in the telling of the Graveyard re-birthing party story? Goblet of Fire and Deathly Hallows share a structural element not seen in the other five novels–the double climax. After the duel in the graveyard is past, we suddenly get a second adrenaline surge as Mad-Eye turns out to be less Moody than we thought. In DH, we have the forest duel and Harry’s “death”, and then a second adrenaline surge in the duel in Hogwarts Hall. Why did Rowling choose this dual structure, and how are the four incidents related?

Mark True statements with a “T” and False statements with an “F.” Write your answers to the discussion points in the com boxes below.
1._____ The resurrected Voldemort restores Pettigrew’s right arm with a magical silver hand. He then calls the Death Eaters by touching the Dark Mark tattoo on Wormtail’s left inner arm. “How many will be brave enough to return?”

2._____ Voldemort’s “true family returns,” fall to their knees, and kiss the hem of his robes. The Dark Lord does not forgive or forget. “I want thirteen years’ repayment before I forgive you.” The Death Eaters thank him for his mercy.

3._____ Voldemort tells the story of his being vaporized at Godric’s Hollow, how he survived, and the string of good fortune that brought Peter Pettigrew to look for him, Bertha Jorkins to Albania, and the Dark Lord back to the UK.

4._____ Voldemort regains his first body (the nasty baby) via a potion he makes with Pettigrew’s help out of unicorn blood and snake venom. For the re-birthing potion he needed flesh of a servant, bone of the father, and blood of a fiend.

5._____ Voldemort hits Harry with a Cruciatus Curse. His insistence on using Harry becomes clear. He tells the Death Eaters that “I am now going to prove my power by killing him….You will be left in no doubt which of us is the stronger.”

6._____ The battle between Harry and the Dark Lord begins as a wizard’s duel. Harry is forced to bow, suffers the Cruciatus Curse, and then falls under the spell of the Imperius Curse. Harry escapes when a Death Eater accidentally interrupts.

7._____ Harry and Voldemort’s spells meet in midair “and a narrow beam of light connected the two wands, neither red nor green, but bright, deep gold.” The two “were enclosed in a golden, dome-shaped web, a cage of light.”

8._____ With Phoenix Song in the air, Harry forces a bead of light into the Dark Lord’s wand which emits “echoing screams of pain” and five human figures.

9._____ Cedric’s figure begs Harry to tell Cho he loved her while his parents tell him how to escape. All the figures close in upon Voldemort and the light cage collapses when Harry breaks the connection and runs for the Portkey Cup.

10._____ Dodging curses and headstones, Harry runs to Cedric before Voldemort gets the drop on him. As the Dark Lord raises his wand, Harry “Accio!”s the Portkey in a Cup just in the nick of time. “He heard Voldemort’s scream of fury.”

Discussion Points: What are Voldemort’s reasons for wanting to use Harry’s blood for his resurrection brew? How does Harry’s escape amount to a counter-resurrection on his part? The Dark Lord’s speech to his followers tells us what about him? Them? Contrast this Wizard’s Duel between Harry and Voldemort with the duel at the end of Order of the Phoenix, and the two duels in Deathly Hallows, noting especially the attitude of Voldemort versus that of Harry. What determines the outcome of each duel? Which elements change? Which elements remain the same?

Mark True statements with a “T” and False statements with an “F.” Write your answers to the discussion points in the com boxes below.

1._____ Harry prepares for the Third Task in empty classrooms by working with Ron and Hermione on Stunning Spells, the Impediment Curse, the Reductor Curse, the Shield Charm, and the Four-Point Spell. Harry feels he is ready.

2._____ Rita Skeeter gets in a last minute stab at Harry in the Daily Prophet by writing the article “Harry Potter: Disturbed and Dangerous” that appears the day of the Third Task. Harry bristles at her saying he might be a Dark Wizard.

3._____ Mrs. Weasley and Charley come to visit Harry during his family time on the day of the Third Task instead of the Dursleys. Harry helps Mrs. Weasley reconcile with Hermine and takes the two on a long tour of the Hogwarts grounds

4._____ Harry enters the Maze first with Cedric and encounters a boggart, an enchanted mist that turns his world upside-down, a Blast-Ended Skrewt, a Bulgarian using the Cruciatus Curse, and a Sphinx before the giant spider….

5._____ Harry distracts the spider attacking Cedric and it turns on him. He and Cedric manage to stun it but not before it sinks its pincers into Harry’s leg. Harry passes out from the pain but wakes up in time to see Cedric about to get the Cup.

6._____ Cedric, though, decides he cannot take the Cup. Harry saved him twice in the Maze and gave him the clue that helped him with the First Task. Cedric insists he take the Cup, Harry refuses, and then they agree to share the victory. Whoops.

7._____ The Triwizard Cup was a Portkey and it has dropped them into the Malfoy Estate’s back yard and their graveyard. Cedric tries to help Harry run for it, but….

8._____ Harry’s scar explodes with pain as a figure approaches carrying what looks like a baby or a bundle of robes. The figure obeys the baby in the bundle and “kills the spare.” Cedric drops spread eagled next to the retching Harry.

9._____ Wormtail ties Harry tightly to Tom Riddle’s headstone before bringing a stone cauldron big “enough for a full-grown man to sit in.” Peter puts the baby, daddy dust, his own right hand, a phoenix feather, and Harry hair in giant pot.

10._____ While Harry thinks, “Please let it be dead,” “a man, tall and skeletally thin” “whiter than a skull, with wide, livid scarlet eyes and a nose that was flat as a snake’s with slits for nostrils” appears. “Lord Voldemort had risen again.”

Discussion Points: How do the events in the Maze challenge the Champions? Why doesn’t Cedric take the Triwizard Cup? What does the Graveyard scene in ‘Flesh, Blood, and Bone’ remind you of, if anything? Why does Pettigrew cut off his right hand? Contrast the scene in the graveyard at the end of Chapter 32 to the scene in the Forbidden Forest near the end of Deathly Hallows—What things are similar, what things are different?
