Well, I’m not assuring it’s painless; just not as painful as I was led to believe when my wife told me about it.
Is the reading done by a young woman with Appalachian accent or by a troupe of players?
There’s just one narrator as far as I can tell; at least only one listed when downloading the book, Carolyn McCormick. I couldn’t tell you if it was an Appalachian accent or not but I’m guessing not.
It’s not an Appalachian accent, but I still think she did a nice job. I heard the audiobooks before I listened to Suzanne Collins read excerpts, and her Appalachian accent really threw me. Of course it makes sense that Katniss would have an accent, but the Katniss in my head does not.
Anyway, Carolyn McCormick is not Jim Dale, but her voices are still fun and I enjoyed her performance just as much as most of the other audiobooks I’ve listened to.
