As to the 400-500 Wrock bands link you posted, John. Isn’t it inspiring to see two high school girls who have new creative ambitions–one to write, one to compose? And they’re enhancing research skills as they carefully comb the books for song subject matter.

I see “the future of Pottermania” extending far beyond its beginnings in wrock into many areas of artistic expression. Even in wrock alone, you have poetry and music composition. If you listen to some wrock at the links in my article, you’ll hear some well-crafted stuff.

I’m looking forward to what we’ll see “rowling” from JKR’s creation.

We do intend to see the movie when we are able, but what I was wondering was if we are in it? My sister, Deirdre, has been one of the major supporters of Wizard Rock in NY, and I know footage of her library was included because I saw it in the trailer. But I don’t know if Megan and Mallory kept in any of the interview they did with us back in (I think) October, 2006? I’m very curious to find out!

One thing I found so delightful about wiz rock is that it’s not just a “fanBOY” phenom. There are girl bands as well, just as enthusiastic about creating music based on the books. Such artistic outpouring is just the beginning, I think, of many types of Potter artistic expression to come. Good artistry can join with scholarship to explore Potterdom.

Mark of Marked As His Equal made an interesting observation: these young people aren’t creating these bands because of what they’ve seen on TV or at movies. They’re moved to do this because of reading books.

And it’s these particular books, their themes, etc. You don’t see this phenomenon with Spiderwick, Lemony Snicket or Golden Compass. That Rowling’s books have inspired so many to artistic expression is, why…inspirational!

Now I’m inspired to go pet Flitquick…
