New Tarot Themed Twitter Header

J. K. Rowling has gone silent on her Twitter feed for almost a year now, the few tweets and re-tweets that have been posted are Rowling, Inc., promotions and show little of her signature panache. She has, however, changed the Twitter header more than once, most recently on 23 November, Cormoran Strike’s birthday. The new header is three cards from the Thoth Tarot Deck; Lindsay at Pools of Venetian Blue, a very Serious Striker, alerted me to the change and was the first to post about the cards and her interpretation remains the best I have read: check it out here.

I have asked Evan Willis to share his thoughts, and, end of term responsibilities allowing or concluding, he will write up and post about this most esoteric of subjects here soon. Does it mean as Lindsay suggests that Cormoran is over Charlotte? Or something deadlier?

  1. Can’t wait to read Evan’s post about the latest JKR Tarot Card Header. I think the cards–in the order given will prove to be the very bad (inverted Ace of Swords) Charlotte story to play out before the very good (Two of Cups) Robin and Cormoran card. I’m not an expert on Tarot by any means but from what I read about it this was my quick take.

Now for the BIG News–I and many others have been waiting to hear–but never expeced to hear so unexpectantly–that JKR has just announced in New York that she is just pages from finishing the 5th Strike novel!!!!!!!! Thans to The Tottenham Twitter account for this information. Can’t believe it and I’m over the moon about it. Don’t have a title yet!
    2020 is already looking better than 2019 : )

  2. Joanne,

Allow me to corroborate your claim. The link where the relevant information comes from can be seen here:

The only other important information I can get from it is that the next book might be out sometime in “May-June”, with any luck. Other than that, the floor is open to speculation.

So, um, next stop Oxford University (fingers crossed)?

  3. Let’s hold off please on the Strike5 notes until we have a post here on the subject! The Tarot themed Twitter Header is subject enough for comment and future Strike readers and critics will not look on this thread for discussion of Strike5.

  4. Hi HogPro folks – I’ve posted and had articles shared on this site before. Just wanted to re-share a piece I wrote a few months back which demonstrated that the Strike series is constructed around the Aleister Crowley Thoth Tarot deck as features on the Blue Oyster Cult Agents of Fortune album cover. This is the key link between Strike’s formalist construction and Harry Potter. It’s a bit of a long read, but:
    1. It’s worth it, because you’ll see it and it will blow your mind and…
    2. I called it! 🙂
