J. K. Rowling Speaks Out on the Plight of Institutionalized Children Everywhere

The Presence has given one million pounds to Lumos and NGOs at work in Haiti to help the 30,000 children institutionalized in the wake of Hurricane Matthew. In this conversation with Eddie Redmayne at a Lumos event before the Fantastic Beasts premiere last month she explains how American generosity, our charitable giving to orphanages overseas, are propping up the institutions that break up families affected by poverty, disability, and natural disaster.

When Rowling shines, she is super nova brilliant. And her light, Lumos, the work of which she says she takes the most pride, is her at her most illuminating and enlightening.
