Thoughts on the Day Before the Publication of Hallmarked Man

It’s been the longer part of two years (23 months plus!) since the publication of Running Grave but tomorrow the wait for the eighth Cormoran Strike mystery finally ends. In only a few hours wee can dive into the 912 pages deep water tank of a near-record length novel by Joanne Rowling Murray, known to the world as ‘J. K. Rowling,’ here writing as ‘Robert Galbraith.’

I wrote up my thoughts about the new book and reviewed the predictions we’ve made at Hogwarts Professor since 2023 in a HogPro Substack post, ‘The Spoiler Free Hallmarked Man Prediction Post: Last Lake & Shed ‘Fourth Generation’ Thoughts Before Diving Into Strike8.’ Our predictions in a nutshell? There will be Lost Child plot points, a Pregnancy Trap, and maybe even an induced abortion in the new book per the Golden Threads that run through everything Rowling writes, and, per our post Running Grave theorizing, we’ll be learning about the murder, not suicide, of Charlotte Campbell and Robin’s de facto sterilization consequent to her chlamydia infection as a rape victim.

Nick Jeffery and I discuss how we’ll be reading Hallmarked Man in the coming week and how and when we will re-surface to discuss the literary magic of Rowling’s Lake and Shed artistry this time next week. Check out ‘How Are You Going to Read Hallmarked Man? Nick Jeffery and John Granger share their Spoiler Free Last Thoughts before the Publication of Strike8 which includes Their Plans for Reading It Next Week and Discussing It Here the Week Following.’ It’s almost spoiler free but we do talk about the authors and books used as epigraph sources in Part One without discussing specific epigraphs.

More tomorrow with Day of Publication ‘Placeholder Posts,’ a Hogwarts Professor tradition of almost twenty years!
