John,
I really enjoy your Dante posts. I’ve only read the Commedia once and honestly, I spent more time reading the notes and being very confused about Florentine politics! I especially like the link between Lily/Snape and Beatrice/Dante. It puts a whole new perspective on Snape as a character and his death.
Is there a particular version/translation that is best for beginners? What is the best way to read it? Should we focus on all the notes or concentrate on the flow of the poem?
I am also awaiting the continuation of A Rainbow of Gold, Black, White and Red! You left us with the Black stage, maybe I missed the rest?
