Have any of you read Charlie Lovett’s novel, “The Lost Book of the Grail”? It is a history, a mystery, and a love story, and most of all, it’s funny! It makes several references to popular culture; for example, the main character has read the Harry Potter books and liked them. Like many of the works of JK Rowling, I find “Lost Book” worth reading again and again. Best wishes, Randall on November 9, 2024

Hey, Randall, you forgot to mention a very salient aspect of “Lost Book of the Grail”! The novel “sneaks in” an exploration of the nature of religious faith, in the setting of the Church of England. William Saroyan’s “Human Comedy,” another of your favorite, repeatedly-read novels, also explores religious faith. RKV on November 15, 2024

  3. I am wondering what authors are “out there” who can grip in depth of story and plot and characterizations in a similar way to JKR? I am ashamed to admit that I did not find Strike novels until a year ago, and struggled to find reading material that captivated me as well as HP for so many years. I do NOT like first-person perspective writing style or dystopian settings/stories. I lurk Good Reads and several book clubs, as well as friends who are equally avid readers, and am so often disappointed. I realize JKR has an incredible gift of bringing characters to vivid life – but surely there are others that are nearly as good? I am excited to find this website to lurk and hopefully find others to read and enjoy.
