I kid you not.

As a special promotion, you can download Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games as an audio-book this week — and it won’t cost you anything. You do have to sign up for an account and download some software from AudioCommunity.com before you get the free Hunger Games mp3 files you can listen to anywhere. My source for this great deal assures me the process was painless and the reading performance quite good. Let me know what you think! (H/T to RevGeorge)

Well, I’m not assuring it’s painless; just not as painful as I was led to believe when my wife told me about it. πŸ™‚

  2. Is the reading done by a young woman with Appalachian accent or by a troupe of players?

There’s just one narrator as far as I can tell; at least only one listed when downloading the book, Carolyn McCormick. I couldn’t tell you if it was an Appalachian accent or not but I’m guessing not.

  4. It’s not an Appalachian accent, but I still think she did a nice job. I heard the audiobooks before I listened to Suzanne Collins read excerpts, and her Appalachian accent really threw me. Of course it makes sense that Katniss would have an accent, but the Katniss in my head does not. πŸ™‚
Anyway, Carolyn McCormick is not Jim Dale, but her voices are still fun and I enjoyed her performance just as much as most of the other audiobooks I’ve listened to.

  5. i love the book.

  6. Great!!!

  7. I’m from Kentucky. Yes that’s definitely an Appalachian accent

  8. where is the link to download it? I aboslutly loved this series! and the last book was soo sad, but i would love to have an audio copy of the book.

  9. Alas, Kara, that promtion was a while back, but we’ll let you know if another comes around!
