‘Harry Potter and the Islamization of America.’ (Hat Tip to Grant!)
There are points I find unlikely in this American Thinker piece, most notably that Ms. Rowling was writing either a tit-for-tat historical allegory of the Second World War’s European theatre or a satire of the present day denial of danger concerning Islamic terrorists. What I think is undeniable in this writer’s argument is that Harry Potter, as the Shared Text of this generation of readers, ages “nine to ninety,” is the perfect vehicle to score political points via creative exegesis. Everyone knows the stories so mavens of every stripe can speak to their respective flocks using their language and power as touchstones of their ideological positions.
Look for a repeat of “Republicans for Voldemort 2012” on bumper stickers in your neighborhood soon.

Survey Says — “Harry Potter Books Better than Movies!”

Remember the scientific research that showed that breast milk was better for babies than infant formula? How about the inane questions on the teevee show, ‘Family Feud,’ the questions that gave us the prefacing statement before revelations of democratic truth-isms, ‘Survey says…’? What follows is a combination of both. The Wand Company took an unofficial poll of those fans who gathered pre-dawn outside Harrod’s for the first crack at the HP7B Blu-Ray disc offering (for some reason sale of this item was delayed in the UK). Guest Post: In Defense of the Twilight Saga

When the Breaking Dawn trailer was released last month, we posted that news here and a ‘troll’ jumped in to say how pathetic the writing in the Forks series is, how juvenile the readers, and how sad it is that we take Mrs. Meyer seriously as an author. S/He was slapped down, of course, but like the mole he popped back up a few times to invite more attacks (see the definition of internet troll).
As a rule, I don’t like it when readers ‘feed the trolls’ by responding at length. When the webmaster at TwilightNewsSite offered his opinion, though, I asked if I could put it up as a guest post. Enjoy!
